Festival Faces

19 August 2020

Dear Friends

You find us fresh from our Salvage Scotland 2020 maiden voyage, a festival of maritime initiatives platforming creative talent from Scotland's coastal communities and featuring seven inspiring Scottish practitioners across art, craft, design and industry.

Enjoy our fascinating Creative Encounters

We continue to gather Our Linen Stories this year too, finding creative focus in Fife and deepening regional links with N.Ireland. We're working with local communities to co-design new Walks and enjoy Wild Weaving workshops in small, safe groups.

If you feel able to cut, sew, stuff and mark, please consider supporting our Making Millie project, currently on display in R-Space gallery, Lisburn. Our Flax Fields project is also flourishing, linking contemporary designers in Fife with local heritage roots.

Back on Scotland’s mainland, it's a quieter but no less creative capital city this year and Edinburgh Festivals are underway. With highlights including Cloth#20 at Dovecot and Home at Ingleby, please do visit, whether online or on-the-ground.

Finally this month, we leave you with another creative celebration: acknowledging his extraordinary contribution to Edinburgh Festivals and mastery of creative collaboration, Happy 90th Birthday Richard Demarco pictured centre with the great Jim Haynes right. We invite you to enjoy our Twilight Talk: The Art and Design of Collaboration featuring Richard and Jim and a host of emerging talent, with thanks to co-producer Gordon Duffy, pictured left.

To paraphrase Edinburgh Festivals 2020,
May your Light Shine On

On behalf of all the team
Keep good
John
